Stay Safe Programme
The Stay Safe Programme is a personal safety skills programme for primary schools. Its overall objective is to prevent child abuse, bullying and other forms of victimisation. The content of the Stay Safe lessons will be taught over the next eight weeks by the class teacher. These lessons should be discussed at home with parents. Teachers and parents must work together to ensure that the children learn the skills they need to keep safe. The five topics discussed in the Stay Safe Programme are:
• Feeling safe/unsafe
• Bullying
• Touches
• Secrets
• Strangers
The overall message is SAY “NO” , GET AWAY and TELL
