A word from our new Principal - Ms. Anne Kernan

Welcome back to all of the families who are returning for another year and a hearty welcome to all of the new families who are joining our school community. We hope you will be very happy at Our Lady's Grove.
As the newly appointed principal I feel very privileged to be stepping into this role in such a wonderful school. For the past two weeks I have been shadowing Colette and Marcella to acquaint myself with all aspects of the school and to meet the staff of Our Lady’s Grove. Over the coming weeks I look forward to getting to know the children and you, the parents. Please introduce yourself to me when the opportunity arises.
I grew up in Ballinasloe, Co Galway. I was educated in Moate, Co Westmeath. I attended Carysfort Teacher Training College in Blackrock, Co Dublin. Apart from six years teaching in San Francisco, the rest of my teaching career was in Divine Word NS, Marley Grange. I was the assistant principal for eight years. I am married to a “Goatstown” man and we have two boys in their twenties.
Beginning a new school year can be an anxious time but particularly this year with Colette’s and Marcella’s retirements. Marcella’s official last day is Thursday 3rd. We wish them both happiness and fulfilment as they embark on another “new beginning”. I look forward to working hard on behalf of the Board of Management to ensure that Our Lady’s Grove continues to be a caring and spiritual school. As educators, the teachers are committed to delivering the curriculum to the highest standard so that every child reaches his/her full potential. We look forward to your continued support as partners in your child’s education.
